Many people saw Jesus as another preacher and did not listen. The person from the synagogue asking for Jesus' help was unusual. Others had put their faith in the medicine of the time. Jesus did not pay attention to the person from the synagogue. He said, "The child is not dead but sleeping." He told the little girl to get up and she did. She was 12, at 13 she could get married. Death was common in Jesus' time. Mark tells us not to tell anyone. Telling someone not to tell leads to telling, spreading like wildfire.
