Rev Eddy, Luke 17:11-19, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Cambridge, MA, November 26, 2025 GatoApproves

We were taught thank you, sorry, and please. We receive things we deserve so give thanks. Our lives were gifts; we did not choose them. Every family has struggles. Social media makes bad things seem to be only in our lives. If we look we have more things to be thankful for. The more we cultivate gratitude, we see more of the Lord. Thanksgiving allows us to understand our gifts. The Eucharist is the best way to thank the Lord. Also thank people around us. Those in society allow us to cultivate thanks that allow us to remember the grace of god. Think of something to give thanks for. Thank you Lord for everything you give us. Amen

Deacon John, Luke 23:35-43, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Cambridge, MA, November 23, 2025, GatoApproves

I am Deacon John; I am about to graduate from seminary, will be ordained in May. My parents found a place in Tennessee for retiring. Their church is in walking distance, very rare in the South. The pastor there gave a sermon titled the Fourth Quarter. The thief on the cross that was saved had turned to Jesus to repent and was saved. He was ordained as a saint. God calls us to the heights of holiness, the universal to holiness. We are all called to the holy life of Jesus. The question is not who is a sinner, we are all sinners. It is about humanity. Saint Dismas defended Jesus and was forgiven. You do not have to wait to the last minute to turn to God. When we turn to God for grace, he responds. It means living in grace, further away from sin, it means reconciling. …

Dog poop right at the crosswalk, Sixth Street, Cambridge, MA GatoDisapproves

Right at the crosswalk? Could you not have found a different place for your dog to poop if you were not going to pick it up? Are people getting tickets for this behavior because it violates an ordinance to pick up your dog poop? GatoDisapproves

Portland Street, open pipe, cars do not stop at crosswalks, speeding, heavy vehicles, Cambridge,MA GatoDisapproves

Open pipe in the middle of the street could give my car a flat tire, people speed on Portland St all the time, never stop at crosswalks, heavy trucks travel on this street causing my building adjacent to the street to shake, Portland Street needs speed bumps, why is Cambridge so interested in constructing buildings but the streets and sidewalks are neglected and dangerous because of no one fixing them? Rev. Chakwudi, Luke 21:5-19, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Cambridge, MA, November 16, 2025, GatoApproves

I welcome you celebrating this mass. In my experience, most of you do not want to talk about the end times. Christ said do not get carried away, everything will go away. Think about something that means much to you. I was listening to the Bishop's podcast speaking on St Peter's Basilica. If you walk in the offices, you see people from around the world working together. And it will disappear one day. We will struggle. Keep these things in mind. One day everything goes. How did you live your life, make a difference in the world? One day we had a family meeting and I told my parents I want to plan their funerals. It was a reminder that one day life will finish. As we come to the end of the liturgical year we should take stock of what we are doing. My dear friends, if …

Rev. Chakwudi, John 2:13-22, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Cambridge, MA, November 9, 2025, GatoApproves

We celebrate an unique feast of the Lateran basilica built by Emperor Constantine. The cathedral that is the chair of the bishop is housed in the basilica. St Peter's cathedral is known but the pope's cathedral is in the Lateran basilica, a symbol that all Christians are in the world. A feast as today tells us we are in the world for a reason, not separation of church and state. The church is a reminder that the people of God are there. What does seeing a catholic church do for you? Turn to the person next to you and tell the person. I need two people to tell me. It is significant to represent something bigger than the church. There are people that share the same faith as me. Here in this part of the world, I am hoping we see the churches as telling us that Chri…

Rev. Eddy, John 6:37-40 (688.8), Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Cambridge, MA, November 02, 2025, GatoApproves

There is an apocrophyl book that tells of the death of Adam, the book of Ab. We need to face death. Even before the resurrection of Lazarus, Jesus wept. He knew he would raise Lazarus but still cried. Jesus died allowing us to cry for our loved ones according to some scholars. St. Paul wrote of faith to the Romans. So brothers and sisters we are allowed to feel sad but our faith gives us hope. We have a future for us and united with those that passed before us. Praying for the dead is a beautiful custom. Judas Maccabee prayed for the deceased. These prayers purify the soul. If we can offer our prayers and sacrifice at mass, we are uniting the intention of Christ's sacrifice. We continue this mass with giving hope to those still feeling loss of beloved ones. Amen
