The man is frustrated to go to the healing pool. Jesus asked if he wanted to be well because he can heal. The first reading was about a river that heals. Sometimes we need conversion or healing, but we do not go to Jesus.
Jesus is here walking with us, he wants to heal. We should present ourselves to him with renewed faith.
