The prophet Elijah is presented as a regular human being. He felt abandoned by God wishing to die. At that moment God reaches out keeping him alive. We are all struggling to be the best versions of ourselves but we fail and it makes us sad. We will all struggle but God still helps us in unexpected ways. The holy spirit is there with us as in the second reading. We should not make the holy spirit sad by how we live. We must avoid evil and do good. We do not appreciate our blessings. We may not be able to acknowledge God especially in our struggles. Before God darkness and light is the same.
