Mark1: 40-45, Christ always said he came to tell people what gospels were about. Jesus healed a leperand told him not to tell him anyone. Lepers could be thought to be due to family fault in the time of Jesus. People with covid were asked to isolate similarly to lepers. They were dealing with self esteem since lepers were avoided. Christ touched and healed a leper out of pity, i.e. compassion that helps people. Doing something is compassion. Lent involves alms giving. Charity is love, like Jesus healing leper with touch. St Francis hugged a skin disease person. We are asked to follow in Jesus' image. We are called to make people feel at home, no one is perfect. Christ teaches compassion today. Have you ever reached out to see how someone is doing? Christ came for us as sinners; Ash Wednesday shows we are nothing but dirt without God. Where do we need God's help? What are the areas of my life that we need God's help so that we can show compassion? The grace of God is here and wants to help, let us also be compassionate. We must acknowledge personal sin to be healed so we can help and be compassionate. What do I need to give up in Lent to be better? God's grace is enough wherever we are.
