Remember we are dust and to dust we return reminds us we are nothing without God. It reminds us what happened in Genesis. We need to try our best to be on track, we can fall off track. Lent is important because it reminds us we need God, who wants to lift us up. Noah represented our second chance. Christ fell but did not stay there, we need to get up. Like Christ we carry our cross to the resurrection knowing it is the ultimate goal. St. Mark tells us simply that angels ministered to Jesus in the desert. Sometimes difficulties are too much but angels and God are with us. Temptations are there, do we avoid them? The gospel reminds us we are greater than temptations. We are stronger than temptations. We need to build spiritual muscle, spend more time with God in prayer. Retreats are important to be closer to God, to remind yourself who you really are. Map time in your day to pray, talk but also listen to God. Tune into yourself to build spiritual muscle to be stronger against temptations. Abstain and show charity, do not just do Lent. Invest in Lent and you will feel better on Easter morning.
