The readings are about God visiting us. At the age of 99 years old, Abraham was circumcised. While sitting in the tent, Abraham was visited by God while he is still suffering pains of circumcision. Did Abraham know God was visiting? No, in the Semitic world a visitor is an opportunity to show service. God appeared near Abraham as an example. We are to run to God to accept him, as did Martha in the house of Martha and Mary. Martha although welcoming Jesus asked Jesus if he cared Mary left her to serve him. My friends complain about loneliness. The problems of Martha occurs when comparing herself to Mary. Jesus means to be content with our choices. All it takes to celebrate mass is a priest, but others can participate by helping with mass. If I complain to god for having not, I will always be lonely. We cannot be the same. Being happy with what we have is why St. Paul was happy in prison ready to die, serving the greater good. The question today is, "What will be my position?"
