The readings have us reflect on prayer. Is God listening to our prayers? Can God listen and not answer? God is ever-present. God went down himself to Sodom and Gomorrah. Will you sweep away the innocent? God is not a judge for damnation. Our own actions and choices determines damnation. Even when we are in sin, God offers salvation, as seen in God's answer to Abraham. Only the family of Lot was saved in Sodom and Gomorrah. God wishes to save us, but he needs us to make an effort. The way to pray was asked by the disciples. Jesus was seen to pray seven times in Luke. The asking by the disciples was made after Jesus finished praying. Jesus embraced death because of the power of prayer. The disciples wanted a new way of living. The disciples wanted something unique to connect them to Jesus. The way of prayer is a way of believing. Jesus' prayer was a guide to live. The model of Christian living is the father's prayer. Our God fulfills all needs. A Christian is nothing without prayer. Prayer is a conscious return to the loving father, who is always there waiting for us, hoping to meet us. Will you meet him?
