Mathew 16, Jesus asked what people say of him. He also asked disciples and Peter said he is Christ. What does Jesus say of himself? I am something. Last week, I am the good shepherd. He has to place himself in different places so we can see better who is Jesus. We are invited to learn more about Jesus. Today I am the true vine. He claims the title of God. Moses saw God as I am. Jesus claims image of Father. Jesus presents himself as the savior. He invites us to have a relationship with him. Jesus wants to show us that we are connected to him. At baptism we were connected to God. We need to stay connected, we can only do good deeds by being connected. "Children let us love in truth and deed." We cannot be united with Jesus if we are not connected with each other. Acts of charity puts us in communion with God. The father takes away what does not bare fruit. The circumstances of life cause not to do right, but we should be open to correct ourselves, to be pruned, the father is the vine grower. He purifies and guides. After pruning, beauty is seen. When we listened to first reading, Saul was not accepted. Saul allows himself to be in the situation, does not leave Church. May the Lord allow us to be humble to prune ourselves; may the Lord allow us to be in communion with him.
