Remember one thing, there is nothing you do that will cause God to throw you out forever. God loves us unconditionally. We have a God that understands we sin. God will never leave you. God is always waiting for you. God lets us choose. If God controlled us, we would be robots. We judge sin in theology through intent. He was able to realize he had a father that loved him unconditionally. So, he went back. The beauty of the reconciliation sacrament is the notion of forgiveness. The father ran to his son and celebrated his return. No one is without sin. Everyone goes to confession. We need God's grace. Some people expect large penance but it is about you being there only. Christ told the prodigal son story because he was judged by sitting with sinners. The natural instinct is to do away with people. Should we turn away people? Everyone is worthy of heaven. The prodigal son returned. We need to start by drawing from God's grace. Go to God when you sin. We cannot forgive if we do not draw from God's grace. God needs our help; we are called to experience God's mercy and to share it. Let us pray for the grace to reflect on what I have said as we strive to be better Christians.
